RD-Connect was strongly represented at the 3rd conference of the International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (IRDiRC) in Paris. Hanns Lochmüller, the RD-Connect coordinator, was invited to give a plenary lecture “Cross-cutting bottlenecks and solutions in rare disease research” on the 8th of February. He has pointed lack of data sharing between scientists and clinicians as one of the major obstacles for rare disease research, and discussed the challanges and opportunities. In his presentation, RD-Connect was listed as one of the initiatives with high potential to improve data sharing between researchers and contribute to improved diagnosis and new treatments for rare diseases.
