Joanna Vella

Ms Joanna Vella graduated BPharm (Hons) from the University of Malta in 2007. Her disseratation, entitled ‘Determination of Pancreatic amylase in Gastric Juice’, involved the review of analytical methods to analyze for pancreatic amylase in blood, serum and urine. She carried out her MSc research project on mRNA and DNA profiling of body fluid stains with the London Metropolitan Police (New Scotland Yard), for which she won an award for best MET project in 2009. In 2011 Ms Joanna Vella attended an intensive course in biobanking, titled ‘Certificate on Principles of Biobanking for Clinical, Biological and Environmental Biospecimens and Bioresources’, in Luxembourg.

She was involved as an Assistant Analyst at the London Olympic Games in 2012 and has work experience as a Laboratory Technologist and a Locum Pharmacist, among others. She has held the role of Research Support Officer II since August 2010 and still currently holds this position.
